Manchester United want to re-sign another youth player they let go

Manchester United broke the world record fee for a player when they re-signed Paul Pogba from Juventus last summer and now Jose Mourinho’s side want to bring Michael Keane back to Old Trafford less than two years after letting him join Burnley, reports The Daily Mail.

Keane, 24, has been in superb form for Burnley this season and turned in two very accomplished performances for England during the international break on his debut and is expected to be in high demand in the summer.

Everton and Liverpool have already been heavily linked with a move for the Burnley defender and now United have entered the race for their former defender but can expect to play up to 10 times the amount they sold Keane to Burnley for with Sean Dyche’s side demanding at least £25m for his signature.

Injuries to Chris Smalling and Phil Jones during the international break have only highlighted the fact Jose Mourinho will need to strengthen his defence again in the summer and a sensational return to Old Trafford could now be on the cards for Keane.

Only Steve Cook (181) and Ben Mee (160) have completed more headed clearances in the Premier League this season than Keane (155).
