Napoli ahead of Liverpool in race for Serie A youngster

Napoli are ahead of Liverpool in the queue to sign Udiense midfielder Piotr Zielinski, according to Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.

Zielinksi, 21, has spent the season on loan at Empoli where he has been thoroughly impressive in his breakthrough campaign.

The Poland international’s performances have even courted interest from Liverpool, but it is Napoli that are currently leading the race to sign the highly rated central midfielder.

According to the report, the strong relationship between Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo and Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has given the latter the advantage in the race.

Of players to have attempted at least 50 dribbles in Serie A this season, only Tomas Rincon (74.1%) has done so with a great success rate than Zielinski (72.1%), furthering his statistically calculated strength of ‘dribbling’.
