LA Galaxy target ex-England international

LA Galaxy had lodged a £3m bid for Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott, according to Sky Sports.

The MLS franchise stepped up their interest in the former England international on Wednesday and have reportedly tabled a three-year contract for Lescott to join them Stateside.

The Galaxy, who already have former Premier League players Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane on their books, are looking for a replacement for Omar Gonzalez who joined Mexican club Pachuca last month.

The 33-year-old only joined Villa at the start of the season and Remi Garde isn’t likely to want to lose a player of his experience this month with the club rock bottom of the Premier League.

Lescott has made 13 league appearances since joining from Midland rivals West Brom over the summer but has proven a useful goal outlet for the struggling side. In fact, Lescott has already scored two goals this season, the same amount that he had managed in his previous three league campaign’s combined.
