Everton weigh up audacious move for Bundesliga head coach

Everton have given up in their pursuit of Watford head coach Marco Silva and are now interested in making RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick their new boss, claims The Daily Mail.

David Unsworth has been in interim charge of Everton since the Merseysiders sacked Ronald Koeman at the end of October and were hopeful of appointing Silva as his successor.

However, Watford have successfully fended off interest from the Toffees and now Everton have been forced to go back to the drawing board in their quest to find Koeman’s full-time replacement.

Rangnick was previously interviewed for the Everton job in 2013 but they opted instead to make Roberto Martinez their new manager following David Moyes’ departure.

The 59-year-old lead Leipzig to the Bundesliga in 2016 before moving upstairs to become the club's sporting director that summer.

Leipzig have no intention of losing Rangnick and are reportedly hopeful of extending his contract, which would hand Everton yet another blow in their pursuit of a new manager.

Everton are currently two places above the bottom three in the Premier League and three points clear of 18th place West Ham. Meanwhile, only the Hammers (25) have conceded more times than Everton (24) this term.
