Payet going nowhere, insists West Ham supremo

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan insists star man Dimitri Payet will not be sold in the New Year.

On the back of a superb Euro 2016, reports strongly linked the France international with a move away from the Hammers, with Real Madrid potential suitors.

West Ham successfully retained Payet’s services and despite signing a new deal in February, reports continue to link the 29-year-old with a move away from the London Stadium.

Sullivan, though, insists the Frenchman won’t be leaving in January, telling the club’s official website: “Dimitri has had an outstanding year and has become a vital player for France and I am so proud that he is a West Ham player.

“He has played 16 times for his country in 2016, scoring seven goals and assisting five more, and inspiring them to the final of the European Championship.

“Dimi signed a new long-term contract in February, pledging his future to this Club, and it is very much our intention that he remains with us for years to come.”
