Borussia Dortmund hit out at Arsenal’s pursuit of Aubameyang

Borussia Dortmund sporting direct Michael Zorc has lambasted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for his public comments about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal are leading the race for the Gabon international after being alerted to his services over the weekend.

The Gunners have reportedly already reached personal terms with Aubameyang and now need to agree a price with their German counterparts in order to get a deal over the line.

However, Dortmund are not happy with the way Wenger has spoken publicly about Aubameyang this week and even taunted the Arsenal boss.

“We think it is a lack of respect when you get involved with players who are playing for another team,” The Guardian quote Zorc as saying on Thursday.

“There is no contact with Arsenal. We can only assume that Arsene Wenger has enough to think about when it comes to the performances of his own players.”

Dortmund are reportedly holding out for a bid in the region of €70m (£61.8m) for the 28-year-old but Arsenal are hoping to significantly reduce that fee.

Aubameyang is in contention to play for Dortmund in Friday night’s match against Hertha Berlin after constructive talks with head coach Peter Stoger but it remains to be seen whether this will be his final game for the club.

No player has scored more headed goals since the start of the 2015/16 Bundesliga season than Aubameyang (10).
