West Ham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of a world-class striker after Michy Batshuayi rejected their offer, reports The Daily Mirror.
Batshuayi has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and Marseille are desperate to cash in on the Belgium international before the end of the month to ensure they met Financial Fair Play restrictions.
Slaven Bilic has earmarked signing a new striker as West Ham’s top priority this summer but will now have to turn his attentions elsewhere after failing to land the £30m-rated Marseille frontman.
Tottenham are the frontrunners to sign Batshuayi, although Chelsea have also entered the race for the 22-year-old.
In his first full campaign, he scored 17 goals and registered nine assists in a poor Marseille side. Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (51) and Angel Di Maria (28) played a direct hand in more goals in Ligue 1 last season.
