Chelsea have confirmed they have signed former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia until the end of the season.
Amelia, 33, spent last season with Perugia in the Italian second-tier and has spent the vast part of his formative career as an understudy, which he is expected to be to Asmir Begovic until Thibaut Courtois recovers from his knee problem.
The Italian shot stopper, who Jose Mourinho knows, has spent the last three weeks on trial with Chelsea, but has now been given a contract that will run until the end of the season.
Amelia spent four years at AC Milan before being released in 2014 after starting just 24 league matches.
