Atletico Madrid have offered Watford the chance to sign Nico Gaitan on a season-long loan deal, reports The Daily Record.
Diego Simeone’s side are desperate to conclude a deal to re-sign Diego Costa from Chelsea but the finances involved delaying the transfer.
The Spanish side are now looking to raise extra funds in order to get a deal for Costa over the line and have offered Gaitan to Watford as a result.
Watford have been presented with a season-long loan deal that would cost €2m and include an option to make the switch permanent next summer.
Atletico only signed Gaitan from Benfica last summer in a deal worth £19.7m but the Argentina international has struggled to make any impact at the club.
In fact, the 29-year-old only started 11 league games last season and was made to make a further 12 appearances from the bench. In that time, he only managed to play a direct hand in five goals (three goals, two assists).
