Manchester United make stunning £70m bid for top transfer target
Manchester United have tabled a £70m bid for Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire, claims Sky Sports.
Maguire has been earmarked as a top transfer target by United, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his defensive options for the new season.
Manchester City are also keen on the 26-year-old and it’s thought the Leicester defender would prefer a move to the Premier League champions.
Leicester are holding out for a world record fee for Maguire but United have made their move for the England international for less than the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk.
United balked at Leicester’s £65m asking price for Maguire 12 months ago but now accept they have to pay big money to sign elite defenders.

The Red Devils have already spent £45m on Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and are now looking to wrap up a deal for Maguire.
Having earmarked Maguire as Vincent Kompany’s replacement, it remains to be seen whether City will firm up their interest in the wake of United’s bid.
