Arsenal defender to return against Watford

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has received a huge boost by news Laurent Koscielny is ready to play against Watford, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Koscielny has missed Arsenal’s last two matches and an ongoing Achilles tendon injury also ruled him out of France’s final two World Cup qualifiers over the international break.

The 32-year-old, who has been managing the injury for years now, has not been able to train fully this week and was expected to miss the trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Wenger was facing the prospect of a defensive crisis this weekend after Shkodran Mustafi injured his thigh in Germany’s 5-1 win over Azerbaijan at the weekend, but Koscielny is ready to ease Wenger’s concerns.

In the last three Premier League campaigns, only Simon Francis (328) has won possession in the defensive third more times than Koscielny (293).
