Manchester United ready to step up pursuit of out-of-favour Tottenham ace

Manchester United are ready to intensify their pursuit of left-back Danny Rose after he was axed from Tottenham’s North London Derby squad on Saturday, claims The Daily Mirror.

Rose was a notable absentee from the Tottenham squad prior to their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday before Mauricio Pochettino later refused to go into too much detail on his absence.

The England international has only recently returned from a knee injury that left him sidelined for 10 weeks but his future at the club is up in the air with United watching the situation carefully.

Jose Mourinho’s side have been heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old since the end of last season and are reportedly ready to test the waters with a £40m January bid, which may also include Luke Shaw as a makeweight.

Rose has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League under Pochettino and finished last season as the highest rated left-back (7.42), although a knee injury limited him to just 18 appearances.
