Manchester City latest side in for former Manchester United flop

Manchester City are set to rival Chelsea and Tottenham for £40m-rated Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha next month, reports The Daily Mirror

Palace successfully fended off summer interest from Tottenham for the former Manchester United winger but may struggle to do so again in January.

Zaha has been in tremendous form for Palace since returning from injury in October and has been a pivotal factor behind their rise out of the bottom three.

Chelsea and Tottenham are expected to lead the chase for his signature next month but are now expected to face serious competition from Pep Guardiola’s side, despite their huge wealth of resources in attack.

Roy Hodgson’s side will be reluctant to lose Zaha as he could prove the difference between survival and relegation for the club this season. With that in mind, suitors may have to pay in excess of £40m for the Ivory Coast international next month.

Palace were rock bottom of the Premier League with 0 points from seven matches before Zaha returned from injury against Chelsea midway through October.

Since that 2-1 win, Palace have won as many points as Tottenham (17) and would be ninth in the Premier League if the standings started then.
