AC Milan agree stunning £35m deal for Bonucci

AC Milan have announced Leonardo Bonucci will put pen to paper on a five-year deal subject to medical clearance after reaching an agreement with Juventus for his signature.

Bonucci, 30, has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester City in the last 12 months but has made the decision to remain in Italy following a serious health scare to his son last summer.

Nevertheless, it still comes as a huge shock that Milan, who have already spent more than £100m on new players this summer, have managed to pull off such an outrageous deals from one of their main rivals.

Vincenzo Montella’s side will make Bonucci one of the club’s most expensive players of all-time after wrapping up a deal worth a reported £35m, which will see the Italy international pocket £110,000-a-week wages after tax.

Bonucci, who came through the Inter youth academy, has emerged as one of the best defenders in Europe in the last two years and is a huge coup for Montella’s side, who are starting to form a very exciting team.

In Serie A last season the Juventus star completed the most accurate long balls of all outfielders in the division (230).
