Aubameyang reveals PSG approach

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he rejected an approach from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Aubameyang’s sensational performances last season saw him linked with a move to Real Madrid and Manchester City at the start of the summer before he opted to stay at the Bundesliga outfit.

However, the Gabon international, who has started the current season in fine form, has also revealed there was an approach from PSG, which fizzled out.

“Yes, they happened,” Aubameyang told RMC Radio,  via ESPN, when asked if talks with PSG occurred. “They ended quickly though. Not because I did not want to join PSG but because they handled things poorly.

“PSG have tried several times over the past few years and nothing has changed and my father [who takes care of his son’s interest] often gets cut out [of talks].

“I had said for things to go through my father and that PSG should speak with him but in the end they went straight to Dortmund. Of course Dortmund closed the door to a possible move.”

Only Robert Lewandowski (35) has scored more goals in the last two Bundesliga campaigns than Aubameyang (29).
