Former Liverpool striker not interested in Paris Saint-Germain move
Former Liverpool striker and Celta Vigo star Iago Aspas has cooled talk of a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain this month and insists he is happy in Spain.
Aspas has been a revelation for Celta since joining from Sevilla in 2015 after becoming a laughing stock during his two years at Liverpool that ended the same year.
The 29-year-old’s form stunning form has even led to national recognition with Spain for the first time in his career and his goalscoring performances have even reportedly caught the attention of PSG, although Aspas isn’t paying attention to the speculation.
“PSG has asked about me and other teams too, but I’m very happy here,” Aspas told Cadena Ser, via ESPN. “There has always been interest from other teams but I will be here as long as the club wants me to stay.
“I’m very happy here with my people. To be with my son, my wife, my parents – you cannot pay for that with just money. I always dreamed of playing for Celta when I was young. I want to retire here.”
Aspas still has three-and-a-half-years remaining on his current deal with his boyhood club and is integral to Eduardo Berizzo’s side.
In fact, only Diego Costa (15) has scored more goals of all Spaniard’s across Europe’s top five leagues this season than Aspas (11).
