Roma are still waiting for Liverpool to match their €40m (£35m) valuation before sanctioning the sale of Mohamed Salah, reports Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia.
Salah has already agreed personal terms with Jurgen Klopp’s side and told the Serie A giants he wants to leave and return to the Premier League this summer.
After watching last season’s title challenge collapse in the second half of the campaign when Sadio Mane was unavailable for selection, Klopp has earmarked the Egypt international as a top transfer target in order to add greater depth and speed to the Liverpool attack.
However, Liverpool have not returned with an improved offer since Roma rejected their opening €32m (£28.1m) bid and Klopp’s side have reportedly opened talks with Sporting about Gelson Martins since then as they sound out alternative targets.
Salah endured a disastrous stint at Chelsea were he failed to make any impact at Stamford Bridge but he wants to give life in the Premier League another crack and he has certainly developed into one of the most dangerous players in Serie A since then.
In fact, only six players, all of whom are strikers, have played a direct hand in more goals in the last two Serie A campaigns than the 24-year-old (46). He was one of only eight players that recorded double figures for goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
