Villas-Boas wants to reunite with Chelsea veteran in China

Andre Villas-Boas has only just been appointed manager of Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG but is already targeting a move for Chelsea captain John Terry, reports The Daily Mirror.

Terry’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and a contract renewal isn’t likely after dropping down the pecking order under Antonio Conte this season.

The 35-year-old has already rejected lucrative offers from China and Middle Eastern clubs in the past, but Villas-Boas is keen to reunite with the Chelsea captain, despite the fact his poor relationship with Terry was one of the reasons why he was sacked by Roman Abramovich after just nine months in charge in March 2012.

Shanghai SIPG finished the recent Chinese Super League campaign in third and Terry’s arrival would not be their highest profile player, with Hulk already at the club. Terry has only started in four Premier League matches this season and is on course to achieve his lowest league rating in the last seven campaigns (6.51).
