Incoming Bayern boss makes forward’s future top priority

Carlo Ancelotti has requested Bayern Munich do all they can to stop Real Madrid signing Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season, according to AS.

The former Chelsea manager put pen to paper on a three-year deal to succeed Pep Guardiola last week and one of the big sticking points he pondered prior to agreeing the deal was that Bayern rebuff any Madrid advances for Lewandowski.

Bayern’s No.9 has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital in recent months and his agent was pictured in the VIP section at the Bernabéu for Madrid’s city derby with Getafe, where it is thought Lewandowski’s future was high on the list of talking points between Madrid official’s and his agent.

The reigning Bundesliga champions refused to include a buy-out clause in Lewandowski’s contract when he joined from Borussia Dortmund two-years ago, and with four years remaining on his current deal, it would take a sizeable fee to for Madrid to prize the Poland international away from the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski is arguably in the form of his career at the moment. In fact, since the start of the season only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (18) and Gonzalo Higuain (16) has scored more goals across Europe’s top five leagues than the 27-year-old (15).
