Athletic Club have announced Liverpool target Inaki Williams has signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the San Mames stadium until June 2021.
Williams, 21, had entered the final 18 months of his current deal with the La Liga outfit, but the club have been keen to not only extend his stay, but also increase the £15.3m release clause in contract.
Liverpool were linked with the Spain Under-21 international earlier in the month but their pursuit has now been put to bed following his decision to extend his stay and agree to a new £38m buy-out clause.
Williams became the first black player to score for the club earlier in the season and his form has been impressive enough to earn him a call up to the Spanish youth set up.
In fact, only Aduriz (11) has scored more league goals for Athletic than Williams (6) this season.
