United summer signing not pushing for Old Trafford exit

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has refuted suggestions his Old Trafford career could be over after just 12 months.

Darmian, 26, has been regularly linked with a move from United since the turn of the year after struggling to stay fit in his maiden year at the club.

The Italy international, however, is content with life in England and has no desire to leave, even though Juventus were reportedly interested in signing him in January.

“I’m happy here [in Manchester],” he told Sky Italia, via The Daily Mail. “I have no reason to think about the transfer market.

“When I got the call and an offer from Manchester United I did not have to think twice. They are one of the most important clubs in the world, in terms of history and everything else to do with football.

“I started off well, thanks to everyone at the club I have enjoyed every minute here. When there was talk of moving in January I laughed it off as I’m very happy here.”

No United player has been booked more times in the Premier League this season than Darmian, even though he has only started 20 league matches (6).
