Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo banned for five games
Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for Real Madrid’s next five matches after being charged for pushing referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the first leg of Sunday's Super Cup against Barcelona, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The 32-year-old was a second half substitute in Madrid’s 3-1 win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou but his whirlwind of a cameo was only brief after following up a sensational long range effort with two yellow cards.
Ronaldo was first booked for taking his shirt off in celebration of his stunning goal that restored Madrid’s lead before picking up a second yellow minutes later for simulation.
However, it was in the aftermath of his dismissal that the Madrid No.7 pushed Bengoetxea in the back and he has now been hit with a five-game ban and £2,700 fine.
It means that Ronaldo will miss the second leg of their Super Cup clash with Barcelona on Wednesday, as well as Madrid’s opening four league games of the season.
Lost in what was a chaotic end to the second half in Barcelona, Ronaldo’s scorcher now means the Portugal international has scored more El Clasico goals at the Camp Nou (11) than Messi (10), who was also on the scoresheet on Sunday.
Barcelona is the biggest cheating club i have ever seen. Remember Messi pushed the referee in 2009 match? No ban. Remember rakitic and pique pushing referees in Miami classico?no ban. Messi abusing the referee.gets his ban reduced because he is a FIFA puppet. If Cristiano gets more than 3 matches ban(yes,he did wrong though),then doguarez should be banned from football for those acting and diving skills.referee should be relegated to Segunda division. Then only justice will be served.
