The players that have left recently the club and gone on to flourish have only highlighted Manchester United struggles this season further. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s brace of goals in their 5-1 demolition courted all the headlines, but it was Di Maria’s sublime performance that saw him finish the weekend as the highest ranked player in Ligue 1 (9.85).

Di Maria, 27, registered three assists on Sunday to take his tally in Ligue 1 to nine for the season, placing him just three behind Mesut Ozil (12) as the most prolific creator in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

The former Real Madrid winger also created one more chance than the remaining 27 players used at the Parc des Princes combined (7).
