Brighton bid for Championship defender

Brighton are chasing their third signing of the summer after bidding for Reading centre-back Liam Moore, claims Sky Sports.

The Seagulls have already signed Leon Balogun on a free from German side Mainz and Deportivo La Coruna striker Florin Andone since the end of the season.

Chris Hughton wants to get his business done early this summer and is hoping to beef up his defensive options with the arrival of Moore.

The 25-year-old has spent the last two years at Reading and failing to make the grade at boyhood club Leicester.

Moore finished the season as Reading’s highest WhoScored rated player (7.12) in the Championship, proving key in defence and in attack for the Royals.

The Reading centre-back blocked the most shots in the Championship (51), while also completing the most passes in his own half of the pitch (1547). Not only that, but Moore contributed with three goals and one assist from centre-back.

Reading failed to kick on this season after losing the playoff during Moore’s first season at the club.

Paul Clement’s side finished the campaign three points above the bottom three and it will prove difficult to keep Moore out of Brighton’s grasp.
