West Ham dealt set-back in pursuit of Felipe Anderson

West Ham still haven't agreed a fee with Lazio over Felipe Anderson, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Hammers were hopeful of completing a €30m (£26.2m) deal for the Brazilian winger but Lazio are still holding out for as much as €40m (£35m) including bonuses.

New West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to ease the burden on star man Marko Arnautovic next season and has earmarked Anderson as a top transfer target.

The east London outfit struggled in attack last season and the need to bolster their offensive options has been made more pressing following news Manuel Lanzini may miss the remainder of the year.

Lanzini broke down with a serious injury in training with Argentina before the World Cup and underwent successful knee surgery on Thursday night.

Lazio are also thought to be re-considering the percentage of any future re-sale included in a deal with West Ham, slowing progress of the transfer.

Pellegrini’s side still expect to complete a deal for the 25-year-old, who failed to regain his place in the starting XI last season after overcoming injury.

Of players that made at least 15 appearances in Serie A last season, Anderson required the fewest minutes per successful dribble (1 every 14.8 minutes of action).
