West Brom make move for Everton veteran

West Brom manager Tony Pulls wants to add an experienced head to his midfield and is ready to offer Gareth Barry a two-year deal to prize him away from Everton, reports The Daily Mail.

The Baggies are keen to sign an experienced midfielder after Darren Fletcher left the club to join Stoke at the start of the summer and Pulis has rekindled his interest in Barry as a result.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has already ruled out the departure of the 36-year-old but first-team opportunities will be limited for the former England international following a summer of huge investment in the squad.

He has entered the final 12 months of his existing Everton deal and Pulis hopes the security of two years, coupled with regular game time, will convince the former Aston Villa midfielder to return to the midlands.

Barry is only four appearances behind former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs (632) in the race to become the player with the most appearances in Premier League history and will almost certainly break that milestone this season.
