Arsenal holding out for £35m for Liverpool target

Liverpool have not been put off by Arsenal’s £35m valuation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and have earmarked the versatile midfielder as a top transfer target, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 23, will only have 12 months remaining on his existing deal at the end of the season and contract talks are yet to begin about renewing his deal at the Emirates.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already conceded it would be damaging for the club to lose Oxlade-Chamberlain before proceeding to leave him on the bench against Crystal Palace until they were already 3-0 down.

Liverpool have been regularly linked with a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain throughout the season and Jurgen Klopp is keen to add the midfielder to his squad and is confident of driving down Arsenal’s ludicrous valuation of the England international.

Of players that have started more than 15 matches in the last three Premier League seasons, only Eden Hazard (1 every 20.2 minutes) and Wilfried Zaha (every 21 minutes) have made a successful dribble more frequently than Oxlade-Chamberlain (every 21.1 minutes).
