Roma ace set for another eight months out injured

Versatile Roma defender Alessandro Florenzi has ruptured the same anterior cruciate ligaments he tore in October and is now set for another lengthy period on the sidelines that could be up to eight months.

Florenzi was close to returning from the horror knee injury he suffered at the start of the season but has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season and may not even feature until 2018.

The 25-year-old is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Roma and this latest news would have been felt hard in the dressing room as Luciano Spalletti’s squad look to secure second place on Serie A.

“The tests have confirmed the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament,” Football Italia quote medic Riccardo Del Voscovo as saying. “This morning we will perform another operation using keyhole surgery.”

Despite not featuring since October, only three teammates has registered more assists in Serie A this season than Florenzi (3).
