Arsenal boss Arteta eyeing move for Real Madrid outcast

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is considering a move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic as the Gunners weigh up replacements for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports The Sunday Mirror.

The north London side are bracing themselves for the likely exit of their top scoring striker sooner rather than later and have been linked with a host of big name forwards to succeed their captain.

Indeed, Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter have all been linked with a move for Aubameyang, who has 17 league goals to his name this term.

And with his departure expected sooner rather than later as the Premier League side eye up a summer sale rather than lose him on a free when his contract expires next summer, Arsenal have now been credited with an interest in Real Madrid's Jovic.

The Serb has struggled for game time and form following his big money move to Spain from Eintract Frankfurt last summer, with the young forward netting just two goals from 15 league appearances, four of which have been starts.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane is considering loaning Jovic out with a view to seeing the youngster develop accordingly and Arsenal may be willing to strike a similar deal to the one that saw Dani Ceballos swap Madrid for London last summer, though the LaLiga outfit could consider a big money bid for the frontman.

Arsenal would face competition for Jovic, though, with London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea both also in the market and pondering a move for the 22-year-old.
