Lazio deny they’ve sold United target

Lazio have released a statement denying reported comments made by club president Claudio Lotito that claimed he had sold Felipe Anderson to Manchester United for £46m.

According to Italian publication Il Messaggero, the Lazio president was overheard gloating to colleagues at Salernitana’s Serie B match against Crotone that he had sold Anderson for more than seven times what the club originally paid for the winger in 2013.

United were heavily linked with a move for the winger in January and are expected to revamp their offensive options in the summer, but Lazio have moved swiftly to deny comments attributed to Lotito.

Of players to have made more than 15 league appearances in Serie A since August 2014, only one has required fewer minutes per successful dribble than Anderson (23.7 mins).
