West Brom reject £22m bid for Berahino

West Bromwich Albion have rejected an improved offer of £22m from Tottenham for striker Saido Berahino, the club has confirmed.

Spurs’ latest offer comes less than 24 hours after the Baggies rejected Berahino’s written transfer request.

The north London outfit have already had an offer in the region of £15m knocked back by West Brom and are expected to return with a third offer as they step up their search for more strikers to help ease the goalscoring burden on striker Harry Kane.

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace said: "Our position remains unchanged. The sale of this player is not on our agenda."

Berahino, who turned 22 earlier this month, has enjoyed two impressive full seasons in the Premier League and has been tipped as a future England star.

In fact, of players to have finished last season aged 21 or under, only Domenico Berardi (15) scored more goals across Europe’s top five leagues than Berahino (14)
