Wolfsburg interested in shock move for Manchester United defender
Wolfsburg are monitoring Luke Shaw’s future at Manchester United with a view to making a shock play for the defender, claims The Daily Mail.
Shaw has been heavily linked with a move away from United in the last two years after struggling to win over Jose Mourinho’s trust.
The England international has entered the final 12 months of his existing United contract and there is a good chance he will leave for nothing next year.
The 23-year-old is determined to give everything to his final season in order to gain Mourinho’s support and earn a new contract on merit.
Shaw will not leave United during this window but Wolfsburg will continue to monitor his future at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho has pencilled Shaw in to start United’s opening league game of the season with Ashley Young absent following his exploits at the 2018 World Cup.
Shaw has only started 17 league matches in two years under Mourinho but will hope to build some momentum against Leicester next Friday.
United have a better win ratio in the Premier League when Shaw has not featured at all in matches (59.3%) compared to when he has, including substitute appearances (50%).
