Arsenal have announced Alexandre Lacazette underwent a minor procedure on his left knee on Tuesday morning and will now be out for between four and six weeks.
Lacazette has endured a poor time at Arsenal of late after losing his place in the team to club-record arrival Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and this will only compound his misery.
The France international was due to start in Thursday’s Europa League match against Oestersunds FK but is now due to miss Arsenal’s next seven fixtures, including the EFL Cup final against Manchester City.
Arsene Wenger is suddenly short of options in attack on Thursday with Aubameyang ineligible to compete for the Gunners in the Europa League.
The north London outfit sold Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window, while Danny Welbeck is only just returning from another spell on the sidelines.
Lacazette is Arsenal’s top goalscorer in all competitions this season (9) but has only netted once in his last 13 matches.
