Leicester confident of winning race for Manchester City striker
Leicester City are confident of winning the race to sign young Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, reports the Daily Telegraph.
City are prepared to sanction the Nigerian’s sale this summer as they maintain their pursuit of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, who today has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.
Iheanacho has fallen behind behind Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order under Pep Guardiola, despite a notable goal return during his limited time on the pitch.
West Ham and Crystal Palace were also believed to be keen to signing the 20-year-old, but it looks as though the Foxes have landed the youngster for a fee thought to be £25m.
He is set to become Leicester’s third signing of the summer after the arrivals of Harry Maguire and Vicente Iborra from Hull and Sevilla, respectively.
Iheanacho has scored 12 Premier League goals since the beginning of the 2015/16 season, while an on-target conversion rate of 63.2% is better than any other player to have scored 10 or more top-flight goals since August 2015.
