Hoffenheim right-back emerges as Tottenham target

Tottenham are readying a move for Hoffenheim right-back Jeremy Toljan in a bid to improve the defence, reports the Daily Mail.

Spurs are considering a move for a new right-back following Kyle Walker’s move to Manchester City for £50m earlier this month, though head coach Mauricio Pochettino is also pondering whether to use Kyle Walker-Peters as an understudy for Kieran Trippier.

FC Porto’s Ricardo Pereira was believed to be a top target for Spurs, though talks between both clubs appear to have stalled.

The north London side have since switched targets and are now considering a move for Toljan, who has just a year left to run on his current contract.

Chelsea had been courting the 22-year-old, but their interest looks to have cooled, with Spurs now the frontrunners to sign the youngster.

Toljan, who was an impressive performer at the European U21 Championship this summer, could also cost as little as £3.1m if Spurs are to follow up their rumoured interest in the defender.
