Gokhan Inler’s agent has revealed the midfielder may have to leave Leicester in January in order to secure his place in the Switzerland squad for the European Championship’s next summer.
The Foxes only signed Inler from Napoli over the summer but the 31-year-old has struggled to usurp Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante in the middle of Leicester’s midfield.
The veteran’s arrival at the King Power Stadium was regard as a coup for Leicester at the time, but he has barely featured for Claudio Ranieri’s side and he is now reassessing his future with one eye on the Euro’s next summer.
“Gokhan [Inler] is, more than ever, willing to come out on top at Leicester,” Inler’s agent Dino Lamberti is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“Of course, due to his current situation, in which he is part of a team that is doing exceptionally well, yet hardly featuring, I am in close contact with a number of clubs as potential suitor – be it on loan or on a permanent deal.
“Leading up to Euro 2016 and being the captain of the Swiss national team Gokhan does need more regular match practice under his belt.
“However, as this point we won’t come to rash conclusions, but analyse the situation accordingly and in close co operation with Leicester and their director of football, John Rudkin.”
Since the 2009/10 campaign, Inler has been used to playing at least 19 league games a season, but so far has featured in just four minutes, accumulating just 128 minutes on the pitch.
