Arsenal monitoring future of Borussia Dortmund midfielder

Arsenal are interested in pulling off another raid of Borussia Dortmund for midfielder Julian Weigl, claims BILD.

Weigl has fallen out of favour at Dortmund this season following the arrivals of Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel over the summer.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with moves to Manchester United and Manchester City in the past but neither are currently looking at the midfielder.

Weigl’s current Dortmund deal is not due to expire until 2021 but Arsenal manager Unai Emery is monitoring his future at the club.

Arsenal are set to lose Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny at the end of the season and bolstering in midfield will be a top priority for the Spaniard in the summer.

The Gunners have already poached head of recruitment Sven Mislintat from Dortmund in the last 12 months and raided their Germany counterparts for Sokratis and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.

Arsenal also signed former Dortmund creator Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the start of the year and now have their eyes on Weigl.

The Germany international has only made three appearances in the Bundesliga this season, completing 93% of his passes in that time and scoring one goal.
