Gladbach ready to fight for Chelsea loan star

Gladbach director Max Eberl has revealed the Bundesliga outfit will not go down without a fight in their quest to keep Chelsea loan star Andreas Christensen at the club.

Christensen, 20, is currently in the final season of his two-year loan deal with the Bundesliga outfit and Gladbach have not been afraid of hiding the fact they want to prolong his stay at the club.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte reportedly wants Christensen to return to the club at the end of the season to feature in his long-term plans, but Eberl is still hopeful of securing his long-term services despite the fact they already had a bid rejected last summer.

“We will fight for Andreas,” Eberl told SportBild, via The London Evening Standard.

Christensen has not featured for Gladbach since October after suffering a gluteal injury and isn’t expected to return any time soon, but the young centre back has already established himself as one of the most promising talents in Germany’s top flight.

Only seven players average more passes per game in the Bundesliga this season than Christensen (73.7), while only two complete their passes with a greater success rate (91.9%).
