Paris Saint-Germain announce Tuchel appointment

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have announced the appointment of former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel as new head coach.

The German has been out of work for a year following his Dortmund exit last summer and had been linked with Arsenal once it was confirmed Arsene Wenger would be leaving at the end of the season.

However, PSG have won the race to land Tuchel and he will succeed Unai Emery at the Parcs des Princes at the end of the campaign.

“Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce that Thomas Tuchel will be the new first-team coach next season,” PSG’s official English Twitter account tweeted on Monday evening.

“The German tactician has signed a two year contract with the French champions.”

Emery guided PSG to a domestic treble having steered the French giants to the Coupe de la Ligue, Coupe de France and the league title.

However, the club’s failings in the Champions League prompted PSG to relieve Emery, who will depart after Saturday’s trip to Caen, of his duties and replace him with Tuchel.
