Gameweek four of the Europa League saw three players earn perfect ratings from WhoScored, but who were they?
HENRIKH MKHITARYAN
The 26-year-old has really flourished for Borussia Dortmund this season under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel. Mkhitaryan is among the top 15 rated players across Europe’s top five league this season (7.81 WhoScored rating) and the Armenian international has carried his form over into European competition with ease. The Dortmund winger played another lead role in their comfortable 4-0 win over Azerbaijan outfit FK Qabala, picking up his second WhoScored man of the match award in his last three outings.
He played a direct hand in three of the four goals (one goal + two assists) and was also twice denied by the woodwork during a dazzling 90-minute performance. Additionally, no player made more key passes than Mkhitaryan (3), nor did anyone complete as many crosses as the Dortmund No.10 (9).
ARTIZ ADURIZ
At 34, Aduriz’s late development has been astonishing. Outside of players from the top two clubs in La Liga, only Antoine Griezmann (22) and Carlos Bacca (20) scored more league goals than the Athletic Club striker last season (18). Despite his age, Aduriz is on form to match that tally, if not better it with seven goals in nine games thus far.
The veteran forward was on the scoresheet once again in his side’s 5-1 thrashing of Partizan Belgrade on Thursday, meaning no player has scored more goals in Europe’s second-competition than Aduriz thus far (4). The Athletic No.20 also registered two assists and no player won more aerial duels (4). Aduriz also made one more key pass than the entire Partizan team combined (3) and wasn’t robbed of possession once.
RAUL BOBADILLA
Finally, Augsburg’s hat-trick hero Bobadilla completes the trio of players to earn a perfect 10 WhoScored rating. The Paraguayan wideman has now earned back-to-back WhoScored man of the match awards and has kept the German outfit in the hunt to qualify for the latter stages of the competition.
Despite only featuring for 78 minutes, Bobadilla still completed at least four more dribbles than any off his teammates (5) and at least two more than any other player on display.
Additionally, only Philipp Max (3) created more chances than the 28-year-old (2).
