Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists the club have made getting Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to sign a new long-term deal a priority this season.
Ter Stegen, 24, is now Barcelona’s first choice goalkeeper in all competitions after the sale of Claudio Bravo to Barcelona before the transfer window closed.
The Germany international still has three years left to run on his existing deal at Barcelona but the La Liga champions are determined to secure his long-term future.
“He is a fundamental piece of the furniture at Barcelona,” the president explained to RAC1, via Football Espana.
“He is a mainstay of our team and our commitment to him is strong.”
Ter Stegen has kept nine clean sheets in 23 matches in the Champions League in the last two seasons.
