Burnley demand £10m for Aston Villa target

Aston Villa have been told they will have to pay £10m to sign Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, claims The Sun.

Heaton has entered the final 12 months of his current Burnley deal and has rejected an offer of a new contract.

The 33-year-old won back his place in the Burnley team towards the end of last season but is unhappy with the offer on the table from the Clarets.

Sean Dyche is well stocked in goal with Nick Pope and Joe Hart still at the club but they will not allow Heaton to leave on the cheap.

Villa manager Dean Smith has earmarked Heaton as a top transfer target, as he looks to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper for next season.

The newly promoted Premier League outfit have already made 10 signings this summer and spent in excess of £100m.

Villa have already had a £7m bid for Heaton rejected this summer and will have to match Burnley’s valuation to sign the England international.

Burnley won 42.1% of their Premier League matches when Heaton started last season compared to a win ratio of 15.8% when he didn’t feature from the off.
