Pedro admits Valdes input to United snub

Pedro has revealed he seeked counsel with former Barcelona teammate Victor Valdes before deciding to snub Manchester United in favour of a move to Chelsea last month.

The-28-old looked set to join United following months of speculation linking the winger with a move to Old Trafford before Chelsea successfully hijacked the move at the end of August.

Many had suspected the Spain international might have consulted with his former Barca teammate Valdes, who is currently being frozen out of the first team picture by Louis van Gaal and Pedro has now confirmed those suspicions, despite refusing to put the blame on the veteran goalkeepers’ shoulders.

“He told me it was a very good club with great supporters and the only problem was with the coach,” Pedro told Marca.

“It is true that I do not like the treatment of my [Spain] teammates, especially Valdes, who has been a reference for me and is a model professional.

“I don’t think it’s fair, but that did not influence my decision [to join Chelsea]

“I just saw Man Utd wasn’t convinced to take the step of signing me, they were delaying a lot and I needed a team with which to start the new season. Chelsea acted more decisively.

Pedro admits Valdes input to United snub

The Spanish winger has started the season in impressive fashion having had a direct hand in two goals (one goal + one assist) in his first two matches. To make matters worse for United fans, his direct running and pin-point final ball is exactly what Van Gaal’s side is desperately lacking.
