West Ham target hints at summer exit

West Ham have been given a boost in their pursuit of Harry Arter after the midfielder revealed he may have to consider his Bournemouth future at the end of the season.

Arter was one of several targets for Moyes last month but the West Ham manager failed in his attempts to prise the Ireland international away from their Premier League rivals.

The 28-year-old has played an integral part in Bournemouth’s rise through the football leagues, but has dropped completely out of favour under Eddie Howe this season and he has now hinted about leaving in the summer.

“When a player my age is not playing and someone who is desperate and just loves playing football, there comes a question over whether long term it is going to the right place for me,” The Daily Mirror quote Arter as saying.

“Ultimately If I am not playing, there has to be a change – and I am sure the manager would understand that. If I don’t play between now and the end of the season and am a continued spectator then, naturally, there would be a discussion.”

Arter has only started 11 Premier League matches for Bournemouth this season and hasn’t featured in any of their last four league games.

Of Bournemouth players that have started at least 10 league matches this season, Arter has the lowest WhoScored rating (6.47).
