Real Betis were held to a draw by Cadiz on home turf on Friday night as Juanmi's equaliser cancelled out Alvaro Negredo's opener at the Benito Villamarin Stadium. Moving into Saturday's action, Mallorca earned a huge three points at 10-man Alaves courtesy of Fernando Nino's late winner after Ruben Duarte had received his marching orders midway through the second half.

In the final game of Saturday, Inigo Martinez had put Athletic Club ahead at the San Mames, though Los Leones were unable to hold out for all three points against Barcelona as summer arrival Memphis Depay bagged his first league goal for the Blaugrana after joining from Lyon as the pair played out a 1-1 draw in Bilbao.

Sunday

Real Sociedad bounced back from their 4-2 loss at Barcelona in gameweek one with a 1-0 home win over Rayo Vallecano as Mikel Oyarzabal netted from the spot midway through the second half to land all the spoils. Of the 15 goals scored in La Liga over the weekend, six came in Levante's entertaining 3-3 draw at Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior scored the first of his two goals to draw Real Madrid level in the 73rd minute, only for Rober Pier to restore Levante's lead six minutes later. Carlo Ancelotti's side huffed and puffed for an equaliser and were duly rewarded five minutes from times as Vinicius scored his second, a wonderful toe poke past Aitor Fernandez, who was sent off two minutes later, in a frantic encounter in Valencia.
