Valencia confirm loan deal for Chelsea striker

Valencia have confirmed the arrival of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on a season-long loan deal.

Batshauyi spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund where he impressed for the Bundesliga giants.

The Belgium international failed to win over Antonio Conte and now new manager Maurizio Sarri has given the green light for regular playing time elsewhere.

Sarri wanted to bolster his offensive options with Gonzalo Higuain but the Argentina international instead joined AC Milan.

The Italian head coach has instead opted to retain Tammy Abraham’s services for the upcoming campaign and the 20-year-old will provide back-up for Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

Even though the transfer window for English clubs shut on Thursday, Batshauyi is still able to join Valencia as Spanish clubs can sign players until the end of the month.

The 24-year-old scored seven goals in 10 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund last season and was fart of Belgium’s squad for the 2018 World Cup.
