Ibrahimovic and Pogba to return this weekend, says Manchester United boss

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Marcos Rojo will all be part of the squad for Saturday’s home match against Newcastle.

Ibrahimovic has not featured for United since suffering a serious knee injury in April and wasn’t due to return until 2018 after penning a new 12-month deal with United in August.

However, the 36-year-old’s recovery has gone quicker than expected and Mourinho confirmed during the international break that Ibrahimovic would play again this year.

Even then, Ibrahimovic wasn’t expected to return so soon and his availability gives Mourinho a huge boost after some turbulent weeks at Old Trafford.

There is also good news that Pogba is fit to return after missing United’s last 12 matches with a hamstring injury, while Rojo is also free to make his first United appearance in seven months.

“The players that stayed here and [were] recovering from injuries, even the ones that are recovering from big injuries, they are ready to play,” Mourinho told the club’s official website.

Despite being sidelined since April, no United player has scored more Premier League goals since the start of last season than Ibrahimovic (17).
