West Ham target demanding £100,000-a-week

West Ham target Jermain Defoe will demand £100,000-a-week wages and a £6m signing on fee from clubs looking to secure his services this summer, claims the London Evening Standard.

The 34-year-old can leave Sunderland for free this summer after the Black Cats were relegated to the Championship and West Ham are in pole to re-sign the striker.

Slaven Bilic’s side are determined to sign a reliable goalscoring striker this summer but it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to fork out such a large some of money for someone nearing the end of their career.

However, Defoe believes his record speaks for itself and the fact he has scored 15 Premier League goals for an abysmal Sunderland side means he would be worth every penny for any side.

In fact, the England international has scored 15 league goals in both seasons for Sunderland having failed to reach that milestone in a single league campaign since 2009/10, when he netted 18 times for Tottenham.
