Manchester United could profit if Liverpool fail to land Salah

Manchester United stand to benefit in their pursuit of Radja Nainggolan if Liverpool cannot agree a deal with Roma for winger Mohamed Salah, reports Mediaset Premium, via Football Italia.

Roma are under economic pressures and must reportedly raise €30m (£26m) before the end of June in order to meet their financial commitments but they are determined to avoid being taken lightly in the transfer market.

The Serie A giants are reportedly demanding Liverpool pay nearly €40m (£35m) for Salah, which is far more than Jurgen Klopp’s side are willing to pay and this could inadvertently work out in United’s favour.

Jose Mourinho has earmarked Nainggolan, who is valued in excess of £35m, as a top transfer target as he looks to bolster his midfield options and Roma will reportedly be forced to sacrifice the Belgium international if the sale of Salah does not go through this month.

The 29-year-old turned down the chance to play for Antonio Conte at Chelsea last summer but revealed during the international break that he now expects Roma to keep their end of the deal and reward him with a lucrative new contract.

However, Roma currently aren't in the position where they can hand out more money freely and could instead look to cash in on the dynamic midfielder, who still has three years remaining on his existing deal.

Nainggolan has just come off the back of his best season in front of goal after contributing 11 goals and five assists from midfield for Roma in Serie A. In fact, he scored as many league goals this season as he managed in his previous two league campaigns combined.
