Manchester United target set for €70m release clause

Ivan Perisic is on the verge of signing a bumper new Inter deal that will include a €70m (£64m) release clause, reports Tuttosport, via Football Italia.

The Croatia international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during the summer but Jose Mourinho’s side failed to agree with a fee with their European counterparts.

United failed to convince Inter to lower their €55m (£50.4m) asking price and now Luciano Spalletti’s side have moved to end their interest once and for all by including a €70m release clause in Perisic’s new deal.

The 28-year-old, who still has three years remaining on his existing Inter contract, is also set to become the club’s highest earner behind captain Mauro Icardi.

Perisic has been a sublime start to the new season, playing a direct hand in four goals in Inter’s opening two league matches (one goal, three assists). In fact, only Henrikh Mkhitaryan (5) has provided more assists than Perisic in Europe’s top five leagues.
